Warsaw. Phoenix from the ashes

"Warsaw. Phoenix from the ashes" is the name of the exhibition that will be open for public in Osaka from 16 April 2024. It tells the story of the capital of Poland under German occupation, during Warsaw Rising in 1944 and after WW2. Earlier, the exhibition was shown in Hiroshima.

The Exhibition has been prepared by the Warsaw Rising Museum and the Adam Mickiewicz Institute in cooperation with the Polish Institute in Tokio and the Osaka International Peace Center.

Medal of the Courier from Warsaw Award Gala
Established by the Warsaw Rising Museum, the Medal of the Courier from Warsaw is a distinction awarded in recognition of outstanding contributions to strengthening Poland’s ties with the West, maintaining good Euro-Atlantic relations, and promoting ideas and attitudes close to those of the Warsaw Rising: striving for freedom and independence, as well as building community and democracy. This year, the Medal will be awarded for the second time.

Exhibition in Hiroshima

"Warsaw. Phoenix from the ashes" is the name of the exhibition that will be open for public in Hiroshima from 16 November 2023. It tells the story of the capital of Poland under German occupation, during Warsaw Rising and after WW2 when it was being brought back to life. The Exhibition was organized by the Warsaw Rising Museum and The Adam Mickiewicz Institute in cooperation with the Polish Institute in Tokio and Municipal Authorities of Hiroshima.

Dulag 121 – the Gate into the Unknown. Dramatic mass expulsions during the Warsaw Rising

During the Warsaw Rising a transitory camp in Pruszków near Warsaw, known as Dulag 121, was created by Germans who were expelling Poles from every district they took over in Warsaw. The German authorities promised that the deportees would be provided with personal safety and decent conditions. These were empty promises. The Warsaw Rising Museum has a unique collection of photographs taken in Dulag 121. They are a poignant testimony of the plight the Poles found themselves in.

In order to prevent catastrophe when cultural property is being destroyed we have established The Committee for Ukrainian Museums (Komitet Pomocy Muzeom Ukrainy) to support our colleagues in Ukraine, says Jan Ołdakowski, Director of the Warsaw Rising Museum (PAP). “Our joint effort to preserve the cultural and national heritage of Ukraine is our joint struggle”, he adds.
