Teresa Ficzulska (49)

We barely know anything about Teresa Ficzulska who was the author of the photographs presented in this online collection. She was born in 1875 and died a 100 years later in 1975. When the Warsaw Rising started, she was 69 and due to her age, she was not engaged in any way in fighting. Most probably she lived in the vicinity of Nowogrodzka Street, therefore most of her photographs depict Insurgents in the courtyards of the houses located there or at the barricades at the Krucza and Bracka crossroads. Many photographs portray Insurgents who fought in KB Sokół unit (their HQs were located at 3/5, Nowogrodzka Street). Among others, we may discern Eugeniusz Mrozowicz “Janek”, Adam Kutnik “Jawor” or a 13 year-old messenger Zalman Hochman “Miki - Bandyta”. In the collection there is also a photograph of the grave of Antoni Godlewski “Antek Rozpylacz” who fought in this unit.
