Few photographs show actual combat – most are posed photos of reenactments of events that took place earlier. This is how the capturing of Holy Cross Church by the insurgents was recreated. The "Holy Cross Church" set includes the iconic photo by Eugeniusz Haneman which shows an insurgent in the destroyed entrance to the church ducking to evade a German bullet. Photos of a group of armed insurgents of the HQ Protection Company "Koszta" reenacting an assault, taken by Eugeniusz Lokajski, have a similar character. A number of photographs show soldiers who man firing and observation positions in windows, on balconies and on barricades, with many of them arranged so as to clearly capture their weapons.
