Preparatory works for the Museum’s expansion have just begun
Earthworks have begun, marking the start of the Warsaw Rising Museum expansion. This is an important step in the ongoing investment, which will result in a new building adjacent to the Museum. The new space will help the Museum better meet visitors’ needs and expand its exhibition, educational and cultural programme. Current works do not affect visitors’ traffic. The new space is scheduled to open in 2029.
The Museum will gain a new pavilion built on a former railway loading ramp along Towarowa Street. The building will be fully connected to the existing Museum by underground passages.
Preparatory works on the Museum premises
The first stage of the project — the multidisciplinary concept — is currently underway. On the Museum premises the preparatory phase is already visible to visitors. Exploratory surveys, foundation investigations and utility relocations have begun. All work is organized so as not to interfere with the Museum’s daily operation or visitor flow. These works are scheduled to finish once the building permit is granted. The application will be submitted in December 2026.

What will the new pavilion be like?
The new pavilion will add almost 7,500 square metres. It will have three floors: one at ground level and two underground. The ground floor will welcome larger numbers of visitors and will include a new ticket office, security checkpoint, workshop rooms, a gift shop and a restaurant. This part of the pavilion will serve as a modern visitor centre. Underground spaces will include a multimedia auditorium for 300 people — a multifunctional room for events, meetings, lectures and screenings — as well as a temporary exhibition hall, a large cloakroom and storage rooms. The project also includes a green roof for open-air events. The roof will be open to Varsovians and visitors to Warsaw.

The Museum remains open
The preparatory works do not affect the daily operation of the Warsaw Rising Museum. The institution remains open, and exhibitions, events and educational classes continue as planned. Construction is organized so as not to disrupt the comfort of your visit.
Please follow the signs and the instructions of Museum staff. This will help you move around safely and allow the work to proceed without disruption.
Warsaw Rising Museum’s expansion is co-financed by the City of Warsaw and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
